About TomoRead

TomoRead is a free tool that converts comics and manga into files made for small screens — Kindle, Kobo, Boox, PocketBook and phones. It grew out of a simple frustration: reading manga on an e-ink reader usually means squinting at a whole page shrunk to six inches, pinching and panning on every panel. The hardware is fine; the format is the problem. TomoRead fixes the format.

What it does

It reads the common comic formats — PDF, CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, EPUB and loose images — and produces a version optimized for the device you actually read on. Its Smart conversion uses computer vision to detect the panels on each page, trim empty margins, split double-page spreads, re-paginate vertical webtoons, and fit everything to your screen — all while taking care never to cut through a character, a speech balloon or a sound effect. If a page can't be split cleanly, it's kept whole, because a readable page always beats a badly sliced one.

Who makes it

TomoRead is an independent project built and maintained by one developer, for readers who want their comics to look right on the device in their hands. It has no company behind it and collects nothing about you. If you have a question, a bug, or a device you'd like supported, the contact page is the way to reach us.
